About Us

The "Centro de Interpretación de Arte do Mar A Casa no Alto" arises from the close collaboration of two environmental organizations in the province of A Coruña: Mar de Fábula, based in Camelle (Costa da Morte) and We Sustainability, based in the city of A Coruña. Both groups share the defense of a healthy marine environment and for years they have been jointly participating in beach cleanups, exhibitions and environmental workshops throughout the province of A Coruña. "A Casa no Alto" is the result of the efforts of both organizations to offer a space where to deepen the environmental claim through the different languages available. At the head of this project is Pablo López, visual artist associated with the activity of Mar de Fábula, and together, we want to present this initiative.

The Project

"A Casa no Alto" was born from the desire to provide a space where emerging creatives can develop their creative project in relation to the environment and its circumstances (economic, patrimonial, environmental, social...) To this end, we have opened a house-workshop in the center of the town of Camelle fully available for young artists to reside temporarily in it with the intention of carrying out experimental practices in the environment in which we find ourselves.

Who is this initiative designed for?

This initiative is aimed at emerging creatives of legal age (both individuals and collectives) from all disciplines (visual art, sound, performance, dance, literature, pedagogy, philosophy, engineering, scientific disciplines...) who use artistic language as a form of expression/communication and who share our concerns for the conservation of the environment and its tangible and intangible heritage.

How does it work?

Our goal is that during the time the center is open (currently from March to May 2022), the facilities will always be busy and full of activity. For this purpose, during these next months we will be proposing successive groups to which any interested person can apply and occupy a place in A Casa no Alto.

What does participating in "A Casa No Alto" include?

All participants will have access to our environmental resources as well as to our facilities in Camelle and We Sustainability's own facilities in the city of A Coruña. Upon arrival at Camelle, all participants will be provided with a list of contacts that they can contact to learn more about their trade or specialty. In this list we have included a varied group of professionals based in the local community willing to introduce participants to their world.
